Seeking refuge in the Creator
اللهم فاطر السموات والأرض عالم الغيب والشهادة رب كل شىء ومليكه
Allāhumma fāṭira s-samāwāti wa-l-arḍi, ʿālima l-ghaybi wa-sh-shahādati, rabba kulli shayʾin wa-malīkah.
Allah, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Lord and Sovereign of everything,
أشهد أن لا إله إلا أنت أعوذ بك من شر نفسي وشر الشيطان وشركه
Ashhadu an lā ilāha illā ant. Aʿūdhu bika min sharri nafsī wa-sharri sh-shayṭāni wa-shirkih.
I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own self and from the evil of Satan and his call to associate partners with You.
The Arabic transcription is unvowelled. This reader selects shirkihi, as vocalized in the linked Abu Dawud5067 Arabic cross-reference. The English phrase “his call to associate partners” makes that reading explicit; it is not an added Arabic clause.
